Sepia Saturday 90 - traditional dress

I've been working away most of this week so am a little late in all my regular blog postings. Here's my submission for this week's Sepia Saturday. This vintage postcard is, I assume, of some sort of traditional dancers or other music ensemble. There's no information on the picture at all but it looks as though it might be Eastern European. If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be very glad to hear them.

As usual 100's more vintage postcards on my web site

  1. I was going to say they look like a cultural group, but perhaps it's just the dressing up.

  2. It certainly looks like music group; there seem to be tambourines on the floor at the front. One for Mister Mike I think!

  3. Maybe a cultural group that does folk dances.

  4. Yes, Eastern Europe Perhaps? But An Interesting Ethnic Mix.The Lass on the front row with blonde hair looks rather 'Germanic' Yet, Another lass on the back row looks Oriental(ish)!

  5. Musicians - yes; Eastern European - maybe. I would love to know the answer.

  7. Maybe a dancing group with the addition of tambourines to set the tempo.

  8. Interesting photo. They aren't all wearing exactly the same costume. Musicians, an acting group, .... It is a fun mystery!

  9. Looks like a dance troupe with the tambourines. Must have been great to watch them. How nice they've made it through time.
