Another brief post this week I'm afraid. I have no idea what I do with my time but it just disappears. This week's subect I've chosen to share for Postcard Friendship Friday is vintage postcards of hospitals. Perhaps not an obvious choice, but like an earlier posting I did about Town Halls, there is beauty in these buildings. I had planned to do a bit of research to find out about the history of these magnificient buildings but alas that will have to wait for another day.
Heriot's Hospital, Edinburgh
Cambridge Hospital, Aldershot, published by Valentine
St. Peter's Hospital, Bristol
As usual, 100's more vintage postcards on my web site
What fabulous buildings they all are. Modern hospitals aren't beautiful like these ones.
ReplyDeleteA nice selection of styles. The Edinburgh one looks like a fortification, run I would guess by one of the old school matrons with military precision.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you said that about not knowing what you do with your time, but that it disappears. I often feel exactly the same way. By the way, I was frittering my time away at a postcard show the other day and bought a postcard of Blackpool Tower, simply because I had seen it on your blog and was so delighted to see it. Oh, dear!
ReplyDeleteWonderful architecture and interesting subject. Happy PFF!
ReplyDeleteThe first one shot me back in time- our medic was called Doctor Heriot back in the good old days, a kindly Irishman with a tiny, tiny carved wooden chair in his consulting room which played a tune when you sat on it. Didn't take me many years to get too big to sample it though. LOL :)
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely hospitals!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe my father ever had any hospital postcards and yet he was a doctor. I'm sure he would have love these - I certainly do.
ReplyDeletePS. Time runs away with me too. :)
These are amazing! Imagine going to a place like that when ill! Such grand buildings! Thank you for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteHappy PFF!
Love the architecture of the St. Peter's Hospital.
ReplyDeleteWow, nothing like our hospital buildings of today. Almost makes a person feel better to be sick! :=} What a great collection!
