Sunday Stamps 27: Birds

I had quite a choice for this week's Sunday Stamps theme but in the end decided on this set of 4 bird stamps from Great Britain, c.1966. Clockwise from top left they are: Robin, Blue Tit, Blackbird and Black Headed Gull. I still see the first 3 on a regular basis in my garden, but the gull is generally only seen on the coast.

  1. I'm glad you posted the robin and the blackbird; I only had the other two to show. The blackbirds think they own my garden.

  2. The robin looks different than the robins we have here.

  3. I see the gulls more than any of the others, though they are here too.

  4. I agree with Postcardy. What nice colors on your Robin. The Blue Tit is a great looking stamp.

  5. Our Robins here usually have the orange breast.

  6. Yes the New World robins are different and have a different body shape too. the early English pilgrims must have been homesick for their little bird.
    Thanks for participating.

  7. The American Robin is the size of a UK Blackbird, The British Robin is a smaller bird.
