Sepia Saturday 219 - vintage postcards of domes

Once again, it's way too long since I've posted anything on my vintage postcards blog. My energies of late have been steered towards my In Search of Space blog, chronicling my various Urban Wanders around London, and other places, in search of ghost signs, abandonment, decay, etc. However, I found this week's Sepia Saturday theme irresistible, and relatively easy. From the image chosen this week I have selected domes.

  1. The Smithfield Market pc has four domes going for it! But my favorite is the evening photo of the London National Gallery with the clouds & the moon. There's just something about the sight of the moon peeking through dark clouds at night that draws the eye.

  2. I especially enjoy the second photo, but they are all interesting to see.

  4. Wow! What a wonderful collection of postcards you have. London from the river looks like such a jumble of buildings and so very congested. I can't imagine how crowded it must have been then.

  6. I love old photographs. I especially like the one of St. Paul's in London. It was probably mass produced but it looks hand-tinted.

  7. All cards are nice but my favorite is the first one, the black and white.

  8. I wonder whether anyone specializes in postcards of domes. My favorite is the second card--I like colorful artistic postcards.

  10. I think I like the National Galley, the last picture the best!

  11. I really like the atmosphere in the last card. The wet street with the lit lampposts.
