Sepia Saturday 146 - R.M.S. Queen Mary

I was all prepared to be nice and early again for this week's Sepia Saturday but once again time ran away from me. I have however managed to stay on theme, and my image this week also includes a ship, the R.M.S.Queen Mary to be precise. The picture is one of five on a multiview, vintage postcard of Southsea, Hampshire.

Vintage postcard of Southsea, showing the R.M.S.Queen Mary

I did consider just showing this one postcard, but thought I'd also include the following two for good measure.

Cunard R.M.S. Carinthia, by the artist C.E.Turner, c.1965

R.M.S. Narkunda, by the artist John H Fry, c.1936

As usual 100's more vintage postcards on my web site

  1. A previous Carinthia has figured in postcardy post. I like the two paintings.

  3. I like the Southsea one - memories of family holidays there. Queen Mary (the new one) was here in Lanzarote (Arrecife) last year.

  4. Glad you included all three. I read about the Carinthia in another post and now I've read so many, I've forgotten which one! Shall I go back and read them all again?

  5. Oh my what a great collection! We had a boat that we always called (wasn't even the name on the boat) but it was our Queen Mary...even the people that bought it from us...liked that name!

  6. Yes, I recognized the Carinthia too. Fun! I like the last postcard the best, but I can't pinpoint why. My eye just keeps going to that one.

  8. Lovely cards. I always enjoy the paintings done of ships for the different liners. Once in awhile I've been able to track down some information about the artists.
