I've picked out the theme of kitchen for my entry for this week's Sepia Saturday, of which I seem to have some quite diferent kitchens to share.
The Kitchen at Christ Church College, Oxford
The Great Kitchen at Hampton Court
The Devil's Kitchen, near Llanberis, North Wales
The Devil's Kitchen, near Snowdon, North Wales
As usual 100's more vintage postcards on my web site
Now these are super images. I like how you put in two views of Devil's kitchen and wonder why they named them that?

Hampton Court for me. A little boy turning the spit for the roast hog in that huge fireplace. Kitchen churls lying drunkenly about the place and being scolded by the cook!
ReplyDeleteThe devil sure has an odd kitchen.
ReplyDeletefascinating names for mountains (I'm presuming this.) or is it the water?
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see the different shape to he mountains in the background on the Devil's Kitchen postcards. Is the second one a painting?
ReplyDelete@Scrappy Grams - it's the name of the mountain.
ReplyDelete@Bob - yes, it's by Henry Wimbush.
Clever combination of kitchen images! Imagine being the cook (or one of many cooks) at Christ Church College. Those had to be long days.
ReplyDeleteA creative and colourful take on the theme, as usual.
ReplyDeleteI'm stunned by the kitchen at Hampton Court!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting array of photo postcards. I like the way you inserted the Devil's kitchen into the theme - very clever.
ReplyDeleteAll that was missing [if even so] was Hell's Kitchen, in NYC.
