For this week's Sepia Saturday I've picked up on the musical theme from this week's posting. Below is a handful of vintage postcards all featuring Illustrated Songs. All four postcards were published by Raphael Tuck, and date back to the early 1900's.
Illustrated Songs, Comin' Thro' the Rye, c.1905
Illustrated Songs, The Meeting of the Water
Illustrated Songs, Killarney, Angels Fold Their Wings and Rest
Illustrated Songs, Killarney, Every Rock That Passes You By
As usual 100's more vintage postcards on my web site
It's fun to see these old songs related to pictures on postcards. Nice collection.
ReplyDeleteHow unusual. Thanks for posting these.
ReplyDeleteVery unusual. I wonder if there were more in the set.
ReplyDeleteI have some of these illustrated cards in my collection : the Edwardians were very fond of them. They were also very fond of the Lakes of Killarney - I suppose it was an exotic location for many of them.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteInteresting set of early Tuck postcards. I'm not a great fan of this style, but they are representative of an era!
